There continues to be serious disruptions at the Port of Felixstowe this week and it’s likely to continue into August.
Freight forwarders and container lines continue to report ongoing disruptions to operations following an upgrade of the leading UK container port’s Terminal Operating System (TOS) last month.
Carriers such as Maersk Line report delayed berthing in Felixstowe this week for various vessels, and Maersk and its 2M alliance partner MSC are continuing to divert some vessels to alternative UK container ports such as Southampton and London Gateway.
Mel Pipe, Commercial Director at EUF commented “The problems at the port are still causing headaches for all of us. The issues are impacting all associated shipping lines and vessel arrival/collection and delivery slots, which then has a knock on effect for our customers”
He added “Alternative UK ports are being utilised in an effort to help maintain service levels, however, this isn’t a complete solution, and we’re doing everything we can to assist with a very difficult set of circumstances”.
