CMA CGM announce a further co-operation
February 1, 2012
As part of a new agreement with CSCL and UASC, CMA CGM has announced the reorganisation of its CIMEX 1 service on the Asia-Middle East market from tomorrow.
The new CIMEX 1 service will be operated jointly by all three lines with seven 12,500-14,400teu vessels (1 x 12,500teu from CMA CGM, 3 x 14,400teu from CSCL and 3 x 13,000teu from UASC).
CIMEX 1 will replace CMA CGM and CSCL’s COMEX/AMA and UASC’s AGX1 services and will have a rotation of: Tianjin, Dalian, Pusan, Shanghai (YangShan Terminal), Ningbo, Shekou, Port Klang, Khorfakkan, Jebel Ali, Port Klang, Nansha, Tianjin.
CMA CGM said this new service would “offer an excellent quality of service, a great reliability of schedule and port coverage among the best, while reducing operating costs”.
It added that the calls at Jebel Ali and Khorfakkan meant the service could be used as an entry point to Gulf destinations via CMA CGM’s feeder network.
The line said: “The new CIMEX 1 marks an important step in the evolution of the worldwide maritime transport as it is the first time that vessels of such a capacity [14,000 teu] are employed on a market other than Asia-Europe. This opens new perspectives of employment for this type of big vessel.”
