27 Days to go - Ready for the festive light up in Trafalgar Square

November 29, 2011

Last night, the world’s most famous Christmas tree was on its way from Norway, via the UK port of Immingham, ready for the big lighting-up in Trafalgar Square, London, on Thursday.

Every year the Trafalgar Square tree, traditionally a gift from the Norwegian people, is shipped to Immingham at no cost by DFDS, before completing its journey on specialist Beck & Pollitzer transport to Trafalgar Square.

Sean Potter, MD of DFDS Seaways said, “It is a great honour to transport the world’s most famous Christmas Tree from Norway to the UK through Immingham.

"We experienced strong winds yesterday and our stevedores did a first-class job transhipping the tree safely and securely from the ship to its overland transport.”
